How can we manifest our dreams if we’re surrounded by negativity, impossible conditions, or anything else holding us back that we cannot easily break away from?
You don’t have to settle for a space—or relationships—that drain your energy and block your dreams. In this post, we’ll uncover how to identify environmental roadblocks and turn your surroundings into an energetic match for your biggest goals and dreams.
Why Your Environment is Important

Your environment is more than just a backdrop to your life. It’s a BIG part of your energy blueprint. Whether it’s clutter, toxic people, or even the energy of the physical space, your surroundings can either raise or lower your vibration.
Now, I totally understand that this is one part of your life that isn’t easily changed. We are in our current living situation for a reason. And it often takes a great deal of time, effort, planning, coordination, and cooperation to make significant changes to it.
However, all that effort is well worth it. Your environment is probably one of the biggest factors of your energy blueprint–for better or for worse. This is precisely why spending time in nature is so healing.
So if you find yourself in a living situation, or a work situation, or surrounded by people/places that are out of alignment with your manifesting goals, please know you’re not alone. This is probably one of the most common blocks my clients come to me with in sessions. They ask me how they can manifest positive things if their surroundings are so negative, if the people in their lives are unsupportive, if their work is toxic, and more.
I want to dedicate this post to those clients, and to anyone else who has been wondering the same thing.

Your Energy Blueprint & Your Environment
Your environment is an extension of your energy blueprint. Think of it as a mirror reflecting your current vibrational state. When your surroundings are cluttered, toxic, chaotic, or filled with stagnant energy, they lower your vibration and create friction in manifesting.
On the flip side, a supportive environment can amplify your energy and make manifesting feel effortless. This includes your physical space, like your home or office, but also your emotional environment—your relationships and the energy of the people around you. When you surround yourself with positivity and intentionality, you’re naturally aligning with the frequency of your manifestations.
The Hard Truth
No matter how strong your intentions or actions are, an unsupportive environment can create resistance and completely throw you out of alignment.
An unsupportive environment can totally undermine your efforts, even when your mindset and actions align with your goals. It feels very upsetting to be in this situation–but I’m here to tell you that your surroundings are not nearly as permanent as they may seem.
The Hidden Influence of Your Environment
Your surroundings influence you on multiple levels—mentally, emotionally, and energetically. Here’s how:
Energy Holds Patterns
Physical clutter and stagnant spaces trap old energy. These patterns can keep you anchored to past versions of yourself, blocking the flow of abundance.
Similarly, relationships that feel draining or spaces filled with unresolved emotions create invisible barriers to your manifestations.

Emotional Alignment
The energy of the people and places around you affects your emotional state. Negative, critical, or doubting voices—whether from others or even subtle reminders in your environment—can shift you out of alignment with a jolt or very subtly.
On the other hand, uplifting, supportive surroundings can amplify your positive emotions and confidence.
Physical Representations of Goals
Your environment reflects your values and readiness to receive. Example: If you’re manifesting financial abundance but your wallet is a mess or you avoid organizing your budget, you’re sending mixed signals to the Universe. The same applies if your home lacks space for the love, career, or health goals you’re calling in.
Subtle Habit Triggers
Your environment either encourages or hinders supportive habits. For example, an inviting yoga mat in the corner might inspire mindfulness, while a constant barrage of screens might keep you distracted. Even your daily routes and routines contribute to the energetic flow of your day.
Your environment can either anchor you to old patterns or propel you into the energy of your next chapter. The key is to align it with your intentions, turning every corner of your life into a reflection of your dreams. When your space feels as abundant, loving, and vibrant as the life you’re manifesting, the path to success becomes much clearer.
Signs Your Environment May Be Hindering You
How do you know if your environment is working against you? Usually people are pretty well aware if their environment is causing them problems. Like if you have toxic housemates or coworkers, or the city you live in doesn’t feel like home, or if you don’t feel safe or comfortable in your home.
But just in case you’re not sure, or if you’ve gone “energy blind” to your own surroundings, here are some telltale signs:
- You feel stuck or uninspired even though you’re doing all the “right” things for manifesting.
- Your space feels heavy or overwhelming, with clutter piling up or unfinished tasks nagging at you.
- The people around you—family, friends, or colleagues—tend to focus on negativity, doubt, or drama.
- You notice habits triggered by your environment that derail your goals, or go against the type of lifestyle you want.
One of the first signs is a sense of stagnation or lack of inspiration, even when you’re actively practicing manifestation techniques.
You might be visualizing, journaling, or meditating daily, yet feel as though nothing is shifting. This stuckness often points to an external influence—your environment—that is quietly disrupting the flow of energy needed for your manifestations to unfold.
Another clear indicator is the physical condition of your space. If clutter is piling up, or unfinished tasks are scattered around your home or workspace, it can weigh on your mental energy.
A cluttered environment often reflects a cluttered mind, making it difficult to focus or maintain the clarity needed to align with your desires. Spaces that feel heavy or overwhelming can sap your energy, leaving you drained and unmotivated. Making manifesting something transformational next to impossible!
Beyond the physical, the people in your environment also play a significant role. Relationships filled with negativity, doubt, or drama can act as a constant drain on your emotional reserves. If you’re surrounded by individuals who dismiss your dreams, project their fears onto you, or create unnecessary conflict, it becomes challenging to maintain a high vibration.

It might not be the relationship necessarily, either. Maybe their habits or beliefs are causing energetic unalignment, which can be just as big of a hindrance because it will undoubtedly rub off on you. Their energy can seep into your own, creating resistance in your manifesting efforts.
Finally, take a close look at your habits and how your environment influences them. Sometimes, the spaces you inhabit can unconsciously trigger behaviors that pull you away from your goals.
For example, a kitchen stocked with junk food might lead to unhealthy eating patterns, Or a living room that only has a TV in it and a couch with nothing else might unintentionally take up all your time that’s better spent doing more valuable things.
These habits might seem small, but over time, they accumulate and shift your energy in ways that don’t support your manifestations.
Recognizing these signs isn’t about blame or guilt. It’s about awareness—taking an honest inventory of how your environment is affecting you so you can start making changes.
When you shift your perspective and see your environment as a factor within your control, you empower yourself to create a space that aligns with your goals and amplifies your manifesting power.
Transforming Your Environment for Manifesting Success
Once you’ve identified the blocks, it’s time to make changes that align your environment with your manifesting goals.
Start with decluttering. This is such an underrated manifesting technique! Physical clutter often reflects mental clutter, so releasing items you no longer need creates space for new energy and opportunities. As you declutter, think about what you want your space to represent: abundance, peace, creativity, or love.
Next, uplift the vibration of your space by adding elements that inspire and energize you. Simple changes, like adding fresh flowers, lighting candles, or playing uplifting music, can transform the energy of a room. Crystals, plants, or intentional artwork can also infuse high-vibrational energy into your surroundings.
You don’t necessarily need to completely redecorate either. You can of course, there’s no denying that that can make a difference. But even a few slight adjustments to make your space more aesthetically pleasing for you can really change its energy.
Create intentional spaces that support your goals. For example, if you’re manifesting a new career, design a workspace that feels inspiring and organized. If you’re calling in love, clear a space in your bedroom that symbolizes openness and connection.
Every part of your environment should reflect the life you’re manifesting.
Don’t forget to address your relationships. Boundaries are crucial when it comes to protecting your energy. If you’re surrounded by negativity, find ways to limit your exposure or create energetic buffers, like daily grounding rituals or affirmations.
And if someone in your life or workspace has habits that greatly affect you in negative ways, you owe it to yourself to at least try to talk it out with them. You can be diplomatic about it–no need to go in guns blazing. It will be more painful in the long run to let them continue the habit than to cut it off at the source.

Reframing Challenges as Opportunities
It’s easy to see an unsupportive environment as a roadblock, but I encourage you to view it as an expansion opportunity. Every time you identify and transform an aspect of your surroundings, you’re sending a clear signal to the Universe that you’re ready to receive.
Turning a chaotic space into an intentional one doesn’t just clear the physical clutter—it clears the energetic clutter that’s been holding you back.
Setting strong boundaries with people you frequently share spaces with doesn’t just serve your physical wellbeing, it also serves your spiritual and energetic wellbeing.
Even if you’re in a situation you can’t fully control, like a challenging living arrangement or workplace, there are always small steps you can take to shift the energy. Focus on what you can change, and trust that these shifts will create a ripple effect in your manifesting journey.
How to Align Your Environment with Your Goals
Create Space for Manifestation
Physically clear out what no longer serves you. This could be items, old paperwork, or even outdated beliefs that linger in your space. Every item carries energy, and releasing clutter makes room for new opportunities.
Uplift the Vibration
Infuse your surroundings with positive energy. Light candles, play high-frequency music, or introduce natural elements like plants and crystals. Small changes, like fresh flowers or intentional art, can shift the energy of a space.
You can also energetically cleanse your space. Reiki, crystals, prayer, salt, water, burning herbs, and sound are all options.
Set Clear Intentions in Your Space
Treat your environment as a sacred container for your dreams. Create specific areas dedicated to your goals: a vision board in your workspace for career aspirations, a cozy nook for self-care rituals, or an organized kitchen to support health goals.
Choose Supportive Relationships
You can’t always control who you’re around, but you can choose how you engage. Set boundaries with those who drain you, and prioritize relationships that uplift and inspire. When others mirror your aligned energy, it creates a powerful ripple effect.
Rethink Routine Triggers
If certain places or habits consistently lower your vibration, consider alternatives. Maybe you start working at a favorite café instead of a cluttered desk or replace nightly TV marathons with soothing meditations.

Environmental Energy Audit
So what does this look like in practice? If you haven’t done so in a while, maybe take a moment to consciously assess the energy of your environment. This exercise is a simple but powerful way to uncover the hidden influences shaping your manifesting journey.
Start by standing in the space where you spend the most time—your home office, living room, or bedroom, for example. Take a deep breath, and with a curious and compassionate mindset, begin observing your surroundings.
Ask yourself: What feels heavy or stagnant here? Maybe it’s a pile of papers on your desk, a closet you’ve been avoiding, or a piece of furniture that’s seen better days. Pay attention to the areas that make you feel tense, overwhelmed, or drained when you focus on them. These are often the spaces where energy has become stuck, creating subtle resistance in your life.
Next, shift your attention to what feels light, joyful, or inspiring. Look for the objects or areas in your space that make you smile, feel calm, or spark creativity. It could be a piece of art, a cozy corner where you read, or even a plant that brings a sense of life and growth to the room. These are the high-vibration elements of your environment that you can build upon.
Once you’ve identified the energy highs and lows, choose one small action to create better alignment. It doesn’t have to be overwhelming—start with something manageable but meaningful.
For example, if your desk feels cluttered and chaotic, clear just one corner of it. If your bedroom lacks a sense of peace, add soft lighting or a soothing candle. If an old piece of furniture feels like it no longer belongs in your space, consider donating it or rearranging your layout to freshen up the energy.
What we’re aiming to do here is consider the environment our future self is living in–you know her? The version of you who has what you want to manifest. Where is she? What does her space look like, feel like? What does she surround herself with? How does she engage with people who don’t automatically align with her? Behave as that version of you, one step at a time.
As always, the key is to take intentional action, even if it’s just a small step. Each shift you make makes a difference in your energy blueprint and sends a signal to the Universe that you’re ready to receive your manifestation!
